2024 Track & Field Registration

Registration for the upcoming spring season is now closed.

The Registration "Track and Field" is not currently available.

Welcome to P.L.A.Y. Track & Field

Our program is designed to introduce young athletes to the basics of Track & Field in a fun and exciting environment.  Each participant will get exposure to a variety of different events (both running and field events) that will help build their confidence, skills, work ethic, and sportsmanship.  They will learn a routine of proper warm-up, drills, and stretching.  They will also have the opportunity to compete in weekly meets during the season.

PROGRAM GOALS:
  • Learn Track & Field fundamentals and event techniques
  • Build on previous skills through a variety of exercises, drills, and games
  • Gain confidence through hard work and perseverance
  • Know what it takes to work as a team
  • Make new friends and develop good sportsmanship
  • HAVE FUN!!!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:  The P.L.A.Y. Track & Field Program is open to CURRENT students K-5 from all districts, not just Prior Lake-Savage. Kindergartners must be enrolled in Kindergarten at the time of registration in order to participate.

WHERE: Practices and meets are held at Dan Patch Stadium at Prior Lake High School.  However, location may change to Twin Oaks Middle School depending on field availability.

WHEN:  The season runs from the end of April to early June each year. Practices are held one evening per week and are generally from 6-7pm, although those times depend on when the high school programs need the field.

All meets are on Saturday mornings beginning at 8:30am going to around 11:00am. However our final meet may go until 11:30am as we plan for a small award ceremony after the meet.

The cost to participate is only $80 per child.

We look forward to another exciting Track & Field Season!

2024 Season Information

Critically important is the need for VOLUNTEERS.  In order to ensure a successful season, we need your support!  We ALWAYS appreciate those who step up and volunteer. This year, we have the need for the following opportunities:

  • Track & Field Coordinators (ROLES ARE FILLED)- assist with practice and meet set-up, answer parent questions, help manage meets (direct teams to appropriate areas, perform field event attendant duties such as rake sand pits, adjust high jump bars, etc.), and support coaches and VPs to ensure practices and meets are running smoothly.

  • Team Coaches - create a fun atmosphere to teach track & field fundamentals, help build athlete confidence, support team in making new friends and developing good sportsmanship.
NOTE: Due to the volume of participants, we cannot accommodate special team assignment requests unless you volunteer. Friend requests           can ONLY be accommodated for volunteers. Requests need to be made when you complete the volunteer coaching application in order for           them to be considered.

No experience is necessary. We just need dedicated, supportive, and engaged volunteers. A coach's meeting will be planned for the middle of April to provide more information and prepare you for the season!

Please indicate your willingness to volunteer during registration. There is a spot during registration to sign up as a coach.  If you are interested in one of the coordinator roles, please contact Katie or Alicia directly to learn more about how to get involved.  We truly appreciate your help and support!
