2022 Tennis Season Planning Underway

TENNIS will continue in summer of 2022...

PLAY Tennis had a very successful relaunch over the summer and early fall of 2021. Over 60 players learned the basic fundamentals of the game.

Plans are already underway to continue the tennis program again with sessions starting May of 2022. Over the summer of 2022 we will be offering three different levels for various age and experience groups...

Introduction (5, 6 & 7 year olds)
This option is designed for those just looking to give tennis a try. It will be six 45 minute lessons focused on getting players familiar with the racket and making contact with the ball.

Fundamental (7, 8, 9 year olds)
This option is designed for those that have already been exposed to tennis and are ready to start building the basics and learning the fundamentals of tennis. This will consist of nine 60 minute lessons and focuses on grips, footwork and introduces the basic technique for the forehand. All drills will be on short courts intentionally designed to help build ball control.

Fundamental (9 thru 13 year olds)
This option is designed for those that have already been exposed to tennis and are ready to start building the basics and learning the fundamentals of tennis. This group will move slightly faster as the participants will be older and a bit more experienced. This will again consist of nine 60 minute lessons and will introduce the same fundamental skills  adding in more technique for the backhand and possibly the serve. All drills will be on short courts intentionally designed to help build ball control.

Level 1 (8 thru 13 year olds)
This is  a combined age group option designed for those that have completed at least one of the Fundamentals class and confident with fundamental skills. This level also consists of nine 60 minute lessons. It will continue to develop the forehand and the backhand while spending more time on the serve and working toward simulated match play. This session will continue to utilize short court drills and extend as skills progress.

**Registration Note:
Participants will be encouraged repeat any levels they would like as many times as needed to feel comfortable with the fundamental skills. Fundamental level classes will be offered at multiple times over the summer.

Starting with the Fundamentals level is a great place to start and coaches can advise future level selections on an individual basis.

***For anyone that participated in the summer of 2021, you will be encouraged to repeat the most recent level completed.
