VP of Basketball
Welcome to the Prior Lake Athletics for Youth ("P.L.A.Y.") Basketball webpage. P.L.A.Y. basketball is a community-based recreational and competitive program for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grades. Our goal is to create a fun, competitive, and safe basketball environment where our players focus on skill development, as well as fostering respect for others, self-confidence, leadership, and teamwork.
Who can participate in P.L.A.Y. programs? – The P.L.A.Y. by-laws state that a participant must reside in and/or go to school within the boundries of Prior Lake / Savage school district #719. If you are outside this in anyway you should contact the sport VP or Admin Director for clarification. Occasionally P.L.A.Y. has allowed those outside the district that are looking to participate in a non-traveling or tryout program, (In-House) if their area of residence or school does not provide that opportunity. However, after 3rd grade all area communities do offer these playing opportunities and you would not be allowed into the P.L.A.Y. program without prior clearance by P.L.A.Y. Executive Board in writing. P.L.A.Y. has the right of Dismissal of the registration and removal of the participant (even if previously assigned to a team) if it is not in the best intent of the P.L.A.Y. Community.
Each governing body of Travel and some In House Sports will have restrictions on whether a player can participate if outside the proper community youth organization borders. This is true at State Tournament and National Tournament levels.
Special note for baseball - The Metro Baseball League (MBL), in which P.L.A.Y. Travel Baseball participates, requires either residence within a school district boundary or attendance at a public school within those boundaries. Attendance at a private school within the PLHS district, combined with residence outside of the district boundaries, does not meet MBL eligiblity rules.
