Competition Cheer (Gold Team)

2019-2020 Competition Cheer Gold Team

The 2019-20 Gold Competition Team tryouts are complete and the team has been selected. Please come back next spring for information on tryouts for the team for the following year.

Eligibility: current 1st through 5th graders (who will be in 2nd-6th next year) who live or go to school within the PLSAS #719 boundaries and have at least one year of cheer or related experience.

GOLD TEAM

Total Cost:       $550 (same as last year)
Includes:
$15 non-refundable tryout fee. Covers gym space rental, outside judges.

$535 for the season, split into 3 payments charged on the credit card or checking account entered when you register:

  • May 22: $178.33 - COMPLETED
  • July 10: $178.33
  • September 4: $178.34

Season fee includes:

  • Practice space and mat usage from June – early February
  • Coaches training and safety certifications
  • Liability insurance for P.L.A.Y.
  • Choreography camp
  • Entrance fees for up to 5 competitions plus State
  • Music fees

Uniforms
We will use the same uniform as last year. You are welcome to buy used uniform pieces prior to the uniform fitting. Otherwise, new competitive squad members will have these additional costs (based on last year; subject to slight changes):

$189 for uniform top, skirt with built-in shorties, long sleeve liner, poms and bow
$43 for indoor-only cheer shoes                         
Optional: $120 for warm-up jacket and pants
Optional: $50 for backpack

Uniform fitting will be on Wednesday, July 10

Returning members will only need to purchase a new bow, and any uniform pieces you have outgrown. You may also choose to buy the new backpack.

Practices (TENTATIVE and subject to change):        
Summer practices will start June 12 and will be Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 at HOMS (no practice July 3). During the school year, we will switch to Monday and Thursday from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Aspen Academy.

Choreography Camp:             
Choreography camp will be Wednesday 7/31 and Thursday 8/1 from 5-8pm both nights at Aspen Academy. These dates are required. 

Competitions:
The Gold team will compete in 4-5 competitions in November through January, ending their season (hopefully!) at the MCCA State Competition on Saturday, February 1. Competition dates will be announced as soon as we finalize them.

Tumbling: Gold Team members are strongly encouraged to enroll in tumbling classes to continue to advance their skills. Check out Classic Gymnastics (Savage), Bodies in Motion (Prior Lake) or Dynamics (Savage) if you don't know where to start. Some of the gyms offer cheer-specific tumbling classes.
