Intermediate Information

P.L.A.Y. Intermediate program:

This group will work on learning strategies in a game such as shot placement, offensive/defensive shots, singles and doubles play, footwork/fitness training, top spin/slice shots, overhead serve from baseline, full game play.  Each player will further find out about their game and expand their knowledge to become well rounded tennis players.

An intermediate player is one who has played tennis before whether it be in camps, school, or other teams.  Is able to keep a spirited rally going with proper mechanics of forehand, backhand, volley, overhead, lob, and serving. They understand and can score not only single games but sets and matches.

We will be beginning using the new tennis initiative called ROGY which stands for Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow. This signifies the type of ball to be used during play. Each ball has a different bounce consistency for easier developmental play. Red 4~7 years old. Orange 7~10 years old. Green 10~13 years old. Yellow 13 and up.  Depending on the persons playing level is another factor on which ball will be used. Most players in the intermediate level will be using the Yellow ball, with some using the Green ball if it is developmentally appropriate.

P.L.A.Y. is a participant and actively is a part of "Positive Coaching Alliance" also known as PCA.
