Thank you for your interest in P.L.A.Y. Cheer. We currently have four programs: our Fall Sideline Cheer Program, the Elementary Gold Competitive Team, the Elementary Blue GameDay Competitive Team and the White Pre-Comp Team.
Fall Sideline Cheer is a fun, inclusive, non-competitive cheer program. Participants are pre-K through 8th grade and are encouraged to make new friends, improve their skills, cheer on our P.L.A.Y. football teams and show Laker Pride! Registration takes place in May for the fall season.
The Elementary Gold Competition Team. This is our traditional competition cheer team, performing a 2 minute and 30 second routine including a cheer, dance, tumbling, jumps, stunting and a pyramid. This team may consist of 16-26 athletes in grades 2nd through 6th grade. Our Gold team practices twice a week and competes at 5-6 local competitions as well as at State.
The Elementary Blue Competition Team. New in 2021! Our Blue Squad will also compete in traditional competition cheer, performing a 2 minute and 30 second routine including a cheer, dance, tumbling, jumps, stunting and a pyramid. This team may consist of 16-26 athletes in grades 2nd through 6th grade. Our Blue team practices twice a week and competes at 5-6 local competitions in either the Elementary or Elementary Novice category.
The Elementary Game Day Team. Our Game Day team competes with a 3 minute routine in which athletes perform a band chant, situational sideline (offensive or defensive) cheer and the school fight song, all while leading the crowd and putting up stunts. This team may consist of 16-26 athletes from Blue and Gold Squads in grades 2nd through 6th grade that would like additional opportunities to compete.
The White Pre-Competition Team. This team will focus on learning the fundamentals of competition cheer, including arm motions, jumps, spiriting, facials and stunting basics. They will learn a 2 minute and 30-second traditional routine and perform in an exhibition format at 1-2 local competitions. Our Pre-Comp team will practice once a week. This team will consist of athletes in grades 2nd through 8th grade.
