Prior Lake Athletics for Youth

For the 2012 MBT/MBL season all bats in the 10 – 14 year old age group, big barrel bats must have the NEW USSSA Approved 1.15 BPF stamp on its taper, Babe Ruth Approved 1.15 BPF stamp or BBCOR stamp. For small barrel bats (2 1/4") use all of the above stamps or you can also use bats that have the old approved USSSA mark. 15 year olds must use a BBCOR bat (Batted Ball Coefficient or Restitution). Dear Players, Coaches and Parents:
 

The 2012 season of PLAY Traveling Baseball is rapidly approaching! For 2012 we will have a tryout fee of $25.00 per player (same as 2011). This fee is to help offset the costs of holding our tryouts. This fee is non-refundable, so if your son does not make a traveling team you will only be refunded the difference between the cost of Traveling Baseball and In-House Baseball. The tryout fee is included in the registration fee. For 2012 there will be an additional charge of $20 per player for the cost of Field Maintenance. This is also included in the registration fee. This replaces the $25 Dine & Discount card that was used the past 2 years. We are once again planning on having 4 teams at each age level from 10-15. This is contingent on having field space and enough Head Coaches sign up at these levels.
 

2012 Important Dates:
The following are some key dates to be aware of:

1. Online registration opens for Traveling Baseball on January 1st and closes on Feb 13th for 10-14 year olds and closes on March 19th for 15 year olds and our In-House Plus (8th & 9th grade In-House).

2. February 5th - Coaching applications are due

3. Parent Info Meeting - Scheduled for Jan 29th - 7:00pm @ Twin Oaks Auditorium

4. Uniform Fitting - Jan 29th - 5:00-9:00pm @ Twin Oaks

5. March 2-4 - Tryouts Ages 10-14 at Saints Sports Academy in Lakeville (specific days/times for age groups will be decided once registration closes). We will have uniforms available at tryouts for those of you that were unable to make the Jan 29th Uniform Fitting.

6. April ??? - 15 year old tryouts, date/location TBD

7. May 1st - Start of MBL season for 10-14 year olds

8. May 14th - Start of MBL season for 15 year olds

9. Prior Lake Tournaments:

MAY 11-13: 13AAA & 13AA

JUNE 1-3: 14/15A

JUNE 15-17: 10AA, 10A, 11AA, 12A, 14AAA, 15AAA, 15AA

10. July 13-15, 20-22, 27-29 - MBT, Gopher and MSF State Tournaments

2012 In-House Plus Structure – 8th & 9th Grade (14/15 year olds)
We will once again team-up with the Burnsville In-House program. Our PL teams will be placed with teams from Burnsville and Shakopee. Some travel may be required but will be limited. No weekend tournaments. We will make every effort to schedule league games during the week but due to field constraints there may be some weekend games. Season will run from mid-April to mid July. No tryouts or tryout fee. Uniforms Included (Hats, Shirts, Pants, Socks & Belt). Registration is done thru the In-House Baseball Registration Link.

We have set up a Traveling FAQ link below with detailed information in regards to the season itself and expectations of our program. It's important to remember that Traveling baseball is a step up from In-House Baseball. Players will earn a spot on a Traveling team's roster (usually 11-12 players per team) through a Tryout/Evaluation Process (please go to the tryout/evaluation link for more detailed information), and playing time will be distributed a little bit differently than in the In-House program. The baseball board feels that the main goal of our program is to teach the kids as much as we can about the game and give them as many opportunities to play as possible. Playing at a certain level one season does not guarantee a spot at that level in following seasons. Each season kids will have the opportunity to move up or down based on their tryout/evaluation. Please keep in mind - - what level the kids play at today has no bearing on where they will end up down the road.
