2012 In-House Baseball Season

 

Welcome to the 2012 Season of P.L.A.Y. In-House Baseball!

Registration
Registration is open until Monday, March 19th.  Please click on the "Registration" link above, on this page to register your son(s) - it can be found under the "Related Pages" section.  There will also be the opportunity to register in person - those dates are listed in the Registration section.

We are always in need of Coaches - the more the merrier!  This year we are hopeful of having 4 coaches for each team - we have learned that with work travel schedules sometimes even 3 coaches is not enough!!!.  If you are interested in coaching please complete the Coaching Application which is also found in the "Registration" link.  The Coach Meetings will be held on TBD at the Memorial Park Equipment Shed Pavilion - please mark this on your calendars!

The Parent Information Meeting to review the plans for the season will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in the Prior Lake High School Auditorium at 7:00 PM.

Age Divisions / Cost
Pre-K:                T-Ball               - $92  (MUST be 5 by August 31, 2012)
Kindergarten:    Coach Pitch       - $92
1st Grade:          Coach Pitch       - $92
2nd Grade:         Machine Pitch    - $137
3rd Grade:          Player Pitch       - $137
4th Grade:          Player Pitch       - $167
5th Grade:          Player Pitch       - $167
6th/7th Grade:   Player Pitch       - $182

Season Start

The In-House Season will begin with practices for 2nd Grade and older the week of April 23, 2012 and for Pre-K, K and 1st Grade the week of April 30, 2012.   All age groups will play at least 12 games this season.  Depending upon the number of players we have in each age group, we are expecting we will be able to avoid playing doubleheader games during the week.  If double headers are needed there would be 6pm & 7:30 game times. If the numbers hit right it will benefit us in 2 ways:

  1. The games can begin a little later (probably at 6:30);
  2. Each game can be played longer since there won't be two teams waiting for the first game to end.

Season Schedule
Based on our expectations for the number of teams in each grade-level league, we anticipate the following weekly schedule:

Pre-K:               Mon/Wed Nights, Sat Mornings in May
Kindergarten:   Tue/Thu Nights, Sat Mornings in May
1st Grade:        Tue/Thu Nights, Sat Mornings in May
2nd Grade:       Mon/Wed Nights, Sat Mornings in May
3rd Grade:        Tue/Thu Nights, Sat Mornings in May
4th Grade:         Mon/Wed Nights, Sat Mornings in May
5th Grade:         Tue/Thu Nights, Sat Mornings in May
6th/7th Grade:  Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri Nights, Sat Mornings


Season End
For Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade, the season will end June 29, 2012.

For 2nd Grade through 6th/7th Grade the season will end with the Year-End Tournaments which are scheduled to take place the week of July 16 - July 22, 2012.

Equipment Needs

P.L.A.Y. supplies baseballs, bats, fields to participate on, bases where needed, catchers gear, uniform shirts & hats for the teams.

Each player should supply their own:
SHOES (no metal spikes) (gym shoes are fine for younger ages)
GLOVE (don't get it too small, that is your child's protection)
HELMETS (make sure it has the NOCSAE approval stamped on the helmet for safety, most players have a Navy Blue or Black helmet)
PANTS (something comfortable, Shorts or sweats are common for Pre-K, K and 1st.  Starting in 2nd Grade Baseball pants are required - gray is most common color. All these items can be found at most sporting goods stores.
**Be sure to write your name and phone # on gloves & helmets!**

If you must bring your own bat - you are welcome to bring it - if you are willing to share with your team. Otherwise use the bats provided.


8/9th Grade In-House Plus

2012 In-House Plus Structure – 8th & 9th Grade (14/15 year olds)
We will once again team-up with the Burnsville In-House program. Our PL teams will be placed with teams from Burnsville and Shakopee. Some travel may be required but will be limited. No weekend tournaments. We will make every effort to schedule league games during the week but due to field constraints there may be some weekend games. Season will run from mid-April to mid July. No tryouts or tryout fee. Uniforms Included (Hats, Shirts, Pants, Socks & Belt). Registration is done thru the In-House Baseball Registration Link.
