WANT TO BE A COACH?

Volunteers Needed

We need volunteer coaches and coordinators to keep the Track program going strong!  If you aren't familiar with coaching track, YouTube is a great resource.  Very little initial knowledge is required and it is extremely rewarding.  We need your help in getting the season off and 'running'.

Please contact co-VPs Amy or Scott to learn how to get involved or with any questions about the coaching or coordinator opportunities. We truly appreciate your help with this great activity.

Email us at: vptrack@playinfo.org

or call Amy Weimerskirch at 612-940-2190

Thank You!

“You have a choice. You can throw in the towel, or you can use it to wipe the sweat off of your face.” ~ Gatorade

Thank you participants and parents for a great track season!  While the weather took its toll, the season ended on a great note with perfect weather and a smooth meet.

A special thank you to the coaches and ribbon volunteers.  Without you we wouldn't have a track program.

The P.L.A.Y. Track and Field program is 100% volunteer run and we do it because we have a lot of fun doing it.  The money you pay for the program goes directly into the ribbons, t-shirts, stadium rental, and equipment.

There is some administrative turnover as our students get older and set their sights on high-school, so if you are interested in becoming more involved next year as a coordinator or co-VP, please email Scott Kalb using the Board link to the left.

From the current board, thank you again for a great season!

Welcome to P.L.A.Y. Track & Field

The practice schedule is finalized and the coaches meeting is set. Please refer to the schedule page on the left side of this screen.

We will do a meet and greet with your coach and team at the first practice on Thursday, 5/4/17.  This is also picture night.  PARENTS, Please plan to complete your Picture order form and provide payment when you arrive to practice.

Thanks!  And we look forward to another great season!

Updated 2017 Track Information - 4/10/2017

Welcome to the 2017 Track Registration with Prior Lake Athletics for Youth.

Registration is CLOSED!

Meets and Practices

We have one practice night per week and the schedule will be finalized very soon.  Practice nights do vary each week and won't be on the same night every week. All grades practice on the same night.  We have many athletes who are in dual sports, so we understand if your child is unable to attend every practice or meet.

Please find the Meet Schedule under "SCHEDULES" link on the LEFT side of this webpage under Track & Field. This link will navigate to the details of the schedule.

Practice Times: K-8th Vary each week

6th-8th graders - Note this is P.L.A.Y. Track Registration - if you want to register for Middle School Track you must go to the PLHS MS Activities website in order to register.  As a 6th-8th grader you can actually register for both - but you will need to register in both places PLAY and PLHS if you choose both - you are not able to register in one spot for both or the other.

Kindergartners must be in K this school year (2016-17 school year) .  No Pre-K's.

We have access to the Prior Lake High School and Track for our meets and practices.  This has to be the best youth Track site in the state! Since the high school teams share their track with us, our schedule depends on their schedules.  It is a short season jam-packed with a lot of fun!

Track and Field Goals:

  • Make track and field fun for the kids, coaches and parents.
  • Provide a safe sport through proper use of equipment and access to amazing fields.
  • Give kids similar event participation time.
  • Teach the fundamentals of the sport and encourage progression of skill development.
  • Encourage the athletes to try all events throughout the season.
  • Demonstrate admirable sportsmanship both on and off the field.
  • Work as a team.

For those of you that don’t already know……

The cost of the program is only $68 per child for a fun-filled season.

Volunteering:

Each year the number of participants grow, which requires even a greater need for volunteers in several capacities such as coaches,  directors, and board members.  (Most parents can qualify to coach and you would be placed with your child’s team).

Please indicate your willingness to volunteer at registration time.
Go to ‘Coaching Requirements’ Tab at top of page to get the information for coaching.
