Dear Parents, Players and Coaches:
Welcome to season IX of P.L.A.Y. Lacrosse. Over
these past few seasons we have learned a lot and have had
lots of fun getting to everyone. This year will bring a few
changes, which we hope will help transform our program. Lacrosse
still remains one of the fastest growing sports in our country
right now. For those of you unfamiliar with this sport Lacrosse
combines elements of many sports, running, ball and stick
handling strategy contact at some levels, team work and fun!
Since we are still young many of our participants will have
never have played lacrosse before, so we are definitely focusing
our efforts on teaching the fundamentals of the sport. There
is a US Lacrosse membership required every year. This membership
fee will be announced soon.
ON-LINE REGISTRATION: We encourage you to
register online so we can start coordinating for the season.

year they were about $80.
There will be two seasons: Spring and Summer
SPRING:
The spring league will run from the end of March through the
end of May. Boys in 7th-8th grade can register; currently
there is not a girl’s spring league. Practices will
be held 2-3 times a week with games being played on weekends.
This will be a full checking league and may be somewhat physical
for a 1st time player. For the 7th/8th Grade Boys level we
will be formulating a competitive level team which will require
tryouts.
SUMMER:
The summer league will run from the middle of May through
the end of August. This program will offer teams for all levels
of play. Practices and games will primarily be held Monday
– Thursday at Twin Oaks Practice FB fields. There will
be 2-3 weekend tournaments. All tournaments will be held in
the Metro area.
Teams will be made up in the following age groups:
- Boys 7th-8th grade
- Boys 3rd/4th and 5th/6th
- Girls 7th-8th grade & 5th/6th - 3rd/4th may be allowed
to play on 5th/6th if numbers and ability allow
There is no limit to the number of teams. We will be creating
as many teams as players signed up.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be a MANDATORY
parent meeting scheduled, date and times to be determined.
We will be discussing equipment, jerseys, volunteering, and
an overview of the sport. We plan to have equipment vendors
at this meeting to help with sizing and product selection. It is imperative that you plan on attending this meeting
as this will be the only opportunity to get your player sized
for his/her uniform.
This program cannot be successful without parent participation. We need coaches and asst. coaches, there is no
experience needed, we will provide all coaching material and
training. We are also looking for team parents
and other volunteers for various tasks that may come up.
I’d like to say thank you to all the parents and players
that helped to make last year’s season so successful
and to those that have already been volunteering to get us
ready for this year. We are still in need of many volunteers
and coaches so please contact us if you would like to help
or find out more.
If you have any questions, comments or are interested in
coaching, asst. coaching or just helping out please send an
email to Director of Lacrosse – Don Haugh at djhaugh@comcast.net or to Tim Ranagan, VP of Lacrosse at tranagan@mchsi.com.
