In-House Softball

The In-House Softball program is the larger of the two Prior Lake softball programs in terms of participants. This program is less of a time commitment and has a shorter season than the travel program at the Pre-kindergarten through 2nd grade age groups.  Many of the participants in this program are outstanding athletes and enjoy the game of softball, but may have stronger time commitments to other activities.

The main goal of the In-House program is to teach the skills of playing the sport of softball. During this process we want to create a fair and organized approach to securing players, coaches and volunteers, which will demonstrate the following principles:

  • Make the sport fun for the kids, coaches and parents
  • Teamwork
  • Give kids equal playing time
  • Teach the fundamentals of the game and create curriculum for the progression of skill development
  • Demonstrate admirable sportsmanship both on and off the field
  • Learning about both success and failure through playing sports.

We encourage you to click on the different age levels below to learn more specific information that applies to your athlete. Also, there is more information located on the "New to Softball" page.

Program Information

The In-House Softball program is for girls from 4 years old (must be 5 by Sept.1) through their Senior year of high school. The program is fast-pitch focused from Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade and then changes focus to slow pitch softball from 5th through 12th grade. Games are played within the Prior Lake/Savage city limits with the exception of the Slow Pitch League that will play a portion of their games in Burnsville, Apple Valley, Inver Grove Heights, Rosemount, and Bloomington.

The In-House Softball program is made up of four leagues organized by grade levels. This program ranges from noncompetitive to moderately competitive therefore we do not allow players to play up at a higher level. If you are looking a competitive experience please refer to the Travel Softball program where players are placed on teams based tryouts. The In-House Softball program is perfect for those that enjoy the game of softball and want to play for fun or are new to the game.

TEAM ROSTERS WILL NOT BE ANNOUNCED UNTIL THE WEEK OF APRIL 8TH

Please note: Any request made by a family for their in-house softball player(s) need to be approved by the softball board. There must be a very specific situation to receive any approval. Please plan accordingly before signing your player(s) up.
