Dear Parents, Players and Coaches:
Purpose:
To provide a means of teaching children between the
ages of 6 through 15 the skills of playing the sport
of baseball. During this process we want to create a
fair and organized approach to securing players, coaches
and volunteers, which will demonstrate the following
principles:
- Make the sport fun for the kids, coaches and parents
- Provide a safe sport through the equipment and fields
we use
- Give kids equal playing time
- Teach the fundamentals of the game and create curriculum
for the progression of skill development
- Demonstrate admirable sportsmanship both on and
off the field
- Work as a team
In-House Baseball is intended to be a low to moderate
competitive experience with the opportunity to have
fun and learn baseball fundamental. If you are looking
for something more competitive, you should consider
Traveling Baseball which is also available through P.L.A.Y.
Organization:
There are League Coordinators for each of the following
school grade brackets (the children's grade at the date
of registration - 2007-8 school year):
- • Pre-K & Kindergarten T-ball/Coach Pitch
(must be 5 yrs. old by August 31, 2008)
- 1st Grade – coach pitch
- 2nd Grade – machine pitch
- 3rd, 4th 5th Grades - kids pitch, teams/league are
formed by same grade
- 6th/7th grade – kids pitch
- 8th-10th grade – kids pitch
Levels are based on current grade
at time of registration. (2007-8 school year)
These League Coordinators operate their grade brackets
by administering the process of assigning athletes to
teams, coaches to teams, distribution of equipment/uniforms,
rules, coaches meetings and end-of-the-year equipment/uniform
collection.
We also require an Umpire Coordinator to recruit umpires,
instruct, train and administer scheduling assignments
for virtually all regular season games grades 3-10 and
end of year tournaments to include grades 2nd grade
as well.
Season dates:
Practices/Games will be scheduled Mon. - Saturday.
There will generally try to be 2-3 times a week when
there will be practices and/or games.
- T-Ball & 1st grade begin in early May and concludes
by June 28th
- In-House Baseball for grades 2-7 will begin in late
April and concludes the weekend of July 19th - 20th.
- 8th-10th grade begins the week of May 19th and concludes
the weekend of July 19-20th.
Process:
Registration - You may register online via
the registration link through 3/16/07. You
must register by that date or late registrations will
only be allowed at my discretion and a $50 late fee
will apply. It becomes too difficult to continue additions
to teams late in the process. We don’t want to
turn kids away so it is important to register on time.
Player/Coach assignment consists of assigning “head
coaches” and “assistant coaches” to
each team as listed on registration forms. A child of
a coach will be placed on the parent’s team. Assignment
of all other players to teams is random. Our intent
is to have an equal balance of kids per each grade on
each team (in multi-grade leagues) when possible. We
will not be granting all requests. You may request to
coach with one other person – if you both request
each other then the request most likely will be granted.
Payback:
We want the children, parents, volunteers and umpires
to finish the season with a greater appreciation for
everyone’s efforts. The kids should leave the
season having a better knowledge of the game and improvement
in their skills.
